Project Description

Design & Installation of Bi-facial Solar Panel Carport System
Location: G.R.A, Ikeja, Lagos
Installer: Darlyn-Alt Global Services

Project Description

Darlyn-Alt designed and implemented a solar carport (car pot) system using 14 units of 615 W high-efficiency bi-facial solar panels at G.R.A Ikeja, Lagos. The system serves a dual purpose of renewable energy generation and vehicle protection, optimized to harness both direct sunlight and reflected irradiance for enhanced power output.

System Specifications

  • Solar Modules: 14 × 615 W Bi-facial PV panels
  • Total Installed Capacity: 8.61 kWp
  • Mounting Structure: Custom-engineered solar carport
  • Material: Hot-dip galvanized steel
  • Panel Orientation: Optimized tilt and azimuth for Lagos climate
  • Design Life: ≥25 years

Performance Expectation (Ikeja, Lagos)

  • Estimated Daily Energy Yield: 35 – 45 kWh/day
  • Estimated Monthly Energy Yield: 1,050 – 1,350 kWh
  • Bi-facial Gain: Up to 20–30% with reflective ground finish

Key Design Features

  • Dual-sided energy generation (front + rear)
  • Weather-resistant structure suitable for coastal humidity
  • Provides effective shading and rain protection for vehicles
  • Provision for:
    • Hybrid or grid-tie inverter connection
    • Battery energy storage system
    • EV charging point
